The new server system supports more than five petabytes of storage

By the end of the month -- beginning of October at the latest -- the new eastbound Interstate 84 bridge over the Sandy River will be open for traffic, better-looking, wider, with bike and pedestrian paths.

Two years into the I-84 Sandy River Bridge project is the halfway point for Oregon Department of Transportation, which started the $92.7 million project in 2010. Ultimately, the agency will replace the I-84 bridges running both directions over the Sandy River in Troutdale, and will repair two bridges over Jordan Road, east of the river.

According to CPU World, Intel is preparing the announcement of the Pentium 2117U (dual-core, BGA1023, 1.8 GHz) as well as the Pentium 2020M (dual-core, G2, 2.4 GHz). There will also be two new Sandy Bridge processors, the Pentium 987 (dual-core, BGA1023, 1.5 GHz), as well as the Pentium B980 (dual-core, G2, 2.4 GHz). There was no information on a launch date.

On Sandy Bridge the performance side, we expect Intel's high-end desktop processors to be updated with the i7-3970X with a clock speed of 3.5 GHz (15 MB cache, 6 cores, LGA2011) to replace the 3960X as flagship processor in the fourth quarter.

Backplane Systems Technology announces the release of Avalue's FPC-08W04 industrial fanless touch panel PCs.

The Microsoft Sculpt Touch Mouse is a Bluetooth-enabled computer mouse designed for Windows 8 that retails for around £35, although Microsoft sets the SRP at £49. It's compact, understated in design, and contains a modicum of touchpad control ability. But it lacks the full touchpad controls of the Microsoft Touch Mouse and the petite portability of the Wedge Touch Mouse. It's also not as nicely built or finished as those two mouses.
